Sketching in the
Peak District

I live and work in Buxton, in the heart of the Peak District and close to the spectacular scenery of Dovedale, Kinder Scout and Chatsworth Park.
I started to paint about 20 years ago when I gave up my career in education. I am largely self-taught but have attended a number of stimulating short courses.
I produce innovative paintings combining a variety of media with collage. A natural extension of my work has been the development of collagraph printing.
My inspiration comes from many sources, but especially the countryside around Buxton, old buildings in Derbyshire, France and Spain and the interplay of colour and texture in many natural surfaces.
My paintings have been sold in a number of galleries throughout the area and are held in private collections in many countries.
I am a member of Peak District Products, and also of the High Peak Artists’ and Craft Workers’ Association.
My work will be displayed in The Gallery in the Gardens in the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton on a permanent basis from April 2010.
